Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

It’s not always the biggest fish that make the day as this 32cm grunter bream was Luke’s first fish he has caught. Up from Sydney he and dad Noah had a great day out on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure tour.

Whiting were the go this week with up to 42cm elbow slappers caught in the lower reaches right up to the first lake and out to Lake Weyba with best results on live beach worms.
We saw some big jew fish, flathead and bream caught at the river mouth, Frying Pan and Woods Bay mostly on life bait fish, gar fish and plastics.
Weyba Creek is producing good flathead, bream, moses perch and the odd estuary cod whilst the Gympie terrace stretch of river has good whiting, flathead and a few bream. Further up past Tewantin and the ski run try your luck for a few tarpon and trevally at early mornings and just before Lake Cooroibah for flathead, trevally and the odd mangrove jack.
Also some good mangrove jack along with big threadfin salmon and some bream are active between the top two lakes on live bait fish and lures.
Both tides are fishing well but avoid the changeover at the bottom as quite slow.
It’s worth also throwing in a few pots as there are plenty of sand crabs in Weyba Creek and opposite Munna Beach.
Another great week ahead with sunny days and just the odd chance of a shower Friday and partly cloudy over the weekend. It’s a great time of year to enjoy the Noosa River but don’t forget the hat and sunscreen.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures

Fishing surprises in Noosa River

You never know what you might pull up when fishing in Noosa River as Jack from Victoria and another crew member found out on the last adventure tours. Who can tell us what these fish are called?

Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

Scott and Daniel from Melbourne were stoked to land this 84cm School Jew on a Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure tour during their holiday in Noosa.

One of the busiest October holidays we have seen has also seen lots of good fishing throughout the Noosa River. An abundance of whiting are being caught around the river mouth, Frying Pan and Woods Bay along with several flathead up to 90cm, trevally and bream. An odd school jew and jack is on the prowl too.
Weyba Creek has some good flathead and being caught on soft plastics or live baitfish with best results on the drift. Whilst through the Noosaville reaches up to Tewantin lots of whiting are on the bite, mainly on live worms or yabbies with a few flathead and bream chipping in as well.
Up river between the ski run and car ferry there whiting and bream on the sand flats and the best fishing is towards the top of each tide. At the southern entrance of Lake Cooroibah and between the top lakes it’s worth a try for a few mangrove jacks and jew fish but best at night time on live baits.
Now that the main holiday makers have left it’s also worth dropping in a couple crab pots as there are a few sand crabs or blue swimmers before Lake Weyba mouth and opposite Munna beach on the north side of river.
With only a chance of the odd late shower on Wednesday and Sunday it’s looking like another perfect week ahead for boaties or just to enjoy the Noosa River from the banks.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Advenrtures.
