Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

One of our intrepid perennial customers has been bagging around a dozen nice fish a day. Jim’s daily sample on display shows there is plenty of fish about.

The recent deluge of rain has stirred up things this week with a lot of hit and miss results. There was still strong activity inside the river mouth with whiting, flathead, bream and trevally the main varieties caught. The Woods Point had flathead moving through and the Woods Bay a good spot to land a few GT’s and bream. Live yabbies and worms are best baits if you can get some.

The Frying Pan is a good place to target whiting as is the sand flats off Munna Point and along the Noosaville reaches. Weyba Creek is also good for a few whiting, bream and the odd flathead and a few trevally around the back of Noosa Sound. Try a drift if anchoring up is no productive.

Moving up river there are good bream and flathead past the ski run and at the mouth of Lake Cooroibah. School jew are about between the top two lakes and some around the river mouth but please remember the black jew need to be 75cm minimum to keep. Try jigging with lures or plastics to attract some action.

After all the rain it’s well worth dropping in a couple pots for a muddie or two.

The weather is clearing up with only a possible early shower this week to once again see glorious sunny days so time to get out there and throw a line in.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.

Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

It’s not always the size of the catch that counts as how can you tell Ashton he didn’t have a wicked day out fishing when on holidays from Melbourne.

Fishing was a bit quiet this week with the odd good stories still making it worth the trip. There are a few whiting showing up on the shallow sand banks around the Frying Pan, Munna Point and Noosaville reaches and large sizes.

The inside of the river mouth is still good for bream, flathead and a few school jew and Woods Point ok for a few trevally and flathead with Woods Bay also performing. Bream are prevalent at the back of Noosa Sound and the start of Weyba Creek and maybe an estuary cod if you’re lucky.

Try a drift for some flathead from Gympie terrace stretch to Tewantin and the ski run to the car ferry area with the chance of some GT’s around Noosa Marina. Just before Lake Cooroibah flathead and the odd mangrove jack are still active on the high tides. Try bait fish or livies to give best results.

For general baits through the lower reaches try peeled prawns, mullet strips or lives worms to attract the whiting and bream.

After the weekend rain it may be worth dropping in a pot or two for a mud crab.

There is a shower or two developing for most of this week but I’m sure there will still nice sun breaks to enjoy a spot of fishing in the Noosa River.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.
