Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

Out last weekend on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures boat, local lad Gabe was stoked to land this nice 35cm golden trevally on his birthday.

Been great conditions for fishing again this week with quite a few whiting, good sized bream and flathead around the river mouth, Frying Pan, Munna Beach and Noosaville reaches. The Woods Bay produced the odd tailor and queenfish and the back of Noosa Sound and Weyba Creek were good for flathead, nice sized bream and a few estuary cod.
Trevally and some school jew were active before the ferry crossing , before the first lake and between the top lakes with still the occasional mangrove jack too.
Flathead have taken lures and plastics by jigging for them whilst praws, baitfish and mullet strips were good for bream trevally and whiting on live worms.
Both the run in and out tides were fishing well but most action was had very early in the mornings or late afternoon and evenings.
If you have a few crab pots, try dropping them in around the Woods Bay and Weyba Creek as there are several blue swimmers about and very tasty to eat.
Mostly clear sky’s this week with just the odd shower predicted towards the weekend, so excellent conditions to enjoy another great week on NoosaRiver.
Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Carb Adventures

Taking in the sights from New Zealand

Craig had a top time when visiting Noosa on a recent fishing trip landing a few good fish and a great experience on a Noosa River Safari. Good to see all fish were returned to fight another day.

Noosa River Weekly Fishing and Crab Report

Cloe was stoked to land this nice flathead when coming down from Maryborough to join a Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure.

Fishing was hot and cold this week with the main hot spots before the river mouth, the frying pan and Woods Bay with tailor, flathead and whiting the main fish with the odd large bream starting to come in.

The best successes have come two hours each side of the high tide and pilchards, lures and mullet strips are working well on larger varieties. If targeting whiting and bream, live worms and yabbies being taken and try the shallows and sandflats off Munna Beach, Noosaville stretches and opposite Makepeace Island. Working around the structures throughout the river with mullet strips should give some rewards also.

Despite the water getting cooler there are still some mangrove jacks on the prowl at night and jewfish mainly in the deeper holes and structures at the back of Noosa Sound, Weyba Creek, the Marina and up between the top two lakes.

It’s worth dropping in a crab pot too as lots of sand crabs are active around the Frying Pan, Woods Bay and Weyba Creek.

With just a possible shower most days this week and warm calm  conditions, it looks like being a good time to enjoy a spot of fishing.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures

Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

Jace got a nice surprise when pulling up a crab pot recently. Not what he was aiming for but this estuary cod was very tasty.

Fishing was a bit subdued this week but still a few good catches were reported. The Noosa River mouth produced a few flathead, trevally and the odd tailor with the Frying Pan and the Noosaville reaches having some good sized whiting on the sand banks. The Woods Bay and Point were good for tarwine, trevally and some tailor while the Noosa Sound and Munna bridge also produced the odd mangrove jack late towards the evening.

Weyba Creek and just before Lake Cooroibah are good for flathead, trevally and grunter bream with a few jewfish and jacks between the top lakes.

With the colder waters approaching there are a few good bream coming into the river so try the deeper holes and fish two hours each side of the high tide for best results. In general though both tides are fishing well.

Prawns and mullet strips seem to be working and also try some zerek prawn lures. There are several blue swimmers getting about Lake Weyba, up past the first ski run and first lake to target as well as the odd legal mud crab.

There is the odd shower or two predicted for most days this week but nothing that will seem to stop a good day out on the river.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.
