Sylvia from Wellington, New Zealand landed this nice whiting whist on holidays in Noosa Heads and enjoying her fishing and crab tour.
Shirley over from New Zeala
nd with friends had a great tour out fishing and crabbing and said the freshly caught and steam cooked mud crab was delish…
Leanne from Kenilworth, our February competition winner, said she had a great day out fishing and crabbing on a recent tour. Leanne landed this nice bream and others to make her day.
Local angler Jace got more than he bargained for in his crab pot with a nice estuary cod that was returned to fight another day.
Fishing has been active with the recent rains and big tides but mainly in the lower reaches with catfish in numbers up towards the lakes and beyond.
The river mouth and frying pan have seen several good flathead and trevally with the Woods Bay some tarpon, trevally and whiting.
Through the Noosaville reaches to Tewantin there have been good sized whiting to 43cm, beam and flathead and Weyba Creek producing flathead, bream, cod and whiting. Jacks and the odd jewfish are still around the deep holes and structures but best caught at night and on live bait or lures.
With big high tides and dirty water, both tides are fishing well with either live baits, soft plastics and lures. Worms and prawns are good for bream, whiting and flathead as are live yabbies if you can pump some on low tide.
Also drop a crab pot as lots of crabs have been flushed down with the rain.
There is just the odd light shower or two forecast for most of the next week so looks a good time to enjoy our special waterways.
Until next week good luck from the boys from Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.
Congratulations to Damien Cummins who has won a FREE child adventure on our Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure. Well done and just call us to make a suitable time for your tour.

The Watkins family from Singapore had a great tour on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure last weekend and pulled up a nice mud crab which they had never seen before. Don’t forget if they are not 15cm across the body and of male sex they have to be returned.
Mick when on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures tour landed this nice flathead that made his day.
The lower reaches from the river mouth to Munna Beach is productive for flathead and bream, with some trevally and odd tailor in Woods Bay and the Frying Pan. Good numbers of whiting are through the Noosaville reaches and tarpon, Jacks and threadfin salmon are active chasing the bait fish that are present between the top two lakes.
Live herring, white baits and lures are working for the few trophy fish such as mangrove jacks which are being caught in Weyba Creek, around Noosa Marina and each side of Lake Cooroibah in the beeper holes but the nights are giving best results. Try drifting for flathead to as you cover more ground and being a lazy predator they like the bait coming to them.
The run out tide seems to be fishing better as the water isn’t so clear but with the rain forecast that could change.
Well it looks like a wet week with it fining up for the weekend however the push of fresh water down the river will be good and hopefully push out lots of mud crabs too.
