There has been some reports of mangrove jack in Woods bay and Noosa Sound around the deeper holes using live such as herring. The best time to target jack is in the early hours of the morning or the late hours of the afternoon. Surrounding the jetty’s up and down the river, the bream are around in numbers. The best baits when targeting bream include yabbies and prawns. Flathead have been caught around the frying pan and Noosa river mouth mainly on soft plastics and whitebait. Flathead tend to hang around the shallow water drop offs and sand flats. Trevally have been around Tewantin on both live bait and hard body lures as well as poppers in the early hours of the morning. There are some very good size whiting about near the boathouse on yabbies and live worms. When fishing for whiting you are best to use a very light sinker and a small hook. The mouth of Lake Cooroibah has seen some good bream, whiting and trevally using mullet strips or pilchard fillets. With the light showers throughout the week the mud crabs will be about up near Lake Cooroibah. There is the odd chance of a shower or two along the river this week although mostly clear.

Until next week good luck from the boys at O Boats.

This ripper 47cm golden trevally was caught at Tewantin, aboard the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures earlier this week

A steady week of fishing was reported with several bream, whiting and trevally about. The bream have been popular around structures and deeper holes such as Lake Cooroibah and the Tewantin Marina. Although bream tend to eat just about anything prawns tend to provide the best results. Flathead and whiting have been popular around sand flats and shallow water drop offs with live baits such as worms or yabbies being the best. Soft plastics are a great form of fishing when targeting trevally and flathead amongst the Noosa river. We recommended to fish at first and last light in order to achieve the best results. The crabbing has been great, with the rain dirtying the water. The best places to drop a pot include surrounding Makepeace island and the mouth of Lake Cooroibah.

Until next week good luck from the boys at O Boats!

When heading down the river more, places such as Makepeace Island and Lake Cooriobah have been ripper fishing spots with reports of decent size flathead, mangrove jack, trevally and bream. Pilchard fillets and mullet strips have been producing the best results in the bottom end of the river.
The weather forecast for the next week is looking fantastic with the sun out and little to no wind about.

Noosa River Fishing Report

The Noosa River has seen some great fish this week. There has been several reports of nice size trevally and mangrove jack caught up and around the Noosa river mouth. The best time to fish the river mouth is dawn and dusk with pilchards and herring being highlight baits. Gary caught a ripper trevally on a dead herring just near Woods Bay, as seen in the above image.Whiting have been appearing in the river mainly around sand flats and shallow water drop offs with live baits such as worms and yabbies producing the best results. They are still pulling up plenty of flathead around the 35cm-45cm mark, mainly around areas such as Makepeace island and the Tewantin ferry crossing. Bream as always, are about in the river mainly around deeper holes and structures such as the sound bridge, eating mainly prawns and yabbies. Mud crabs are amongst the river in numbers down past the boathouse, anywhere from Tewantin to the Lake Cooriobah. Fish frames or mullet heads have been producing the best results when crabbing. The weather is tipped to be fantatsic with very light winds and a very low chance of a light shower for the easter period. There is no better time to get out on the water and wet a line.

Until next week good luck from the boys at O Boats.
