Noosa River Fishing Weekly Report

Jacob from Cronulla had a grin from ear to ear when he landed this nice flathead on a recent Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure tour.

The fishing has been excellent in the lower reaches but from the river ferry upwards and the recent fresh water deluge see the catfish in numbers.  The river mouth and frying pan are good for whiting, bream, flathead and the odd golden trevally and tailor.

From Munna Point through the Noosaville reaches on the sand banks in 3 to 5 feet of water there are lots of whiting, bream and good sized flathead. (up to 80cm being caught) Try drifting to increase your chances as well.

As for trophy fish like mangrove jacks try in the evening around the Sheraton bridge, the deep holes at the back of Noosa Sound and Noosa Marina. You may pick up the odd estuary cod too.

With the dirty water both tides are fishing well and try live bait or worms if you can get some otherwise prawns and lures or plastics for larger fish.

Don’t forget to drop a crab pot in as lots have been flushed down the river.

With just a shower or two forecast for next Sunday, it looks a perfect week to start the school holidays and get out on the water.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.
