Marlene was on holidays from Canada and ventured out on the Noosa Fishing and Crab tour.
She was rewarded with a nice 55cm trevally and lots of great memories to take back home.
No guessing where this one was caught as I think the award winning Boathouse restaurant in the background gives it away.
The fish activity has improved now the holiday action has subsided and the big tides are still running. There was action of plenty at the river mouth with bream, flathead, tailor and mangrove jacks into the evening or early mornings.
Whiting and flathead were on the bite in the Frying Pan and the Woods Bay and Point saw bream, tailor, flathead and trevally being caught.
The back of Noosa Sound was quiet but Weyba Creek is worth a try for flathead, bream, estuary cod and moses perch. There are still a few sand crabs getting around up the creek too and the odd good buck mud crab.
There are plenty of whiting on the sand banks in the shallows along the Noosaville reaches and live beach worms or yabbies are your best baits.
From Makepeace Island to the car ferry and at the mouth of Lake Cooroibah was also very active with several varieties on the bite and good fish among them.
Into the night or first thing each morning there are some good action on mangrove jacks around the Noosa Marina, southern entrance of Lake Cooroibah, between the first two lakes and even under the Sheraton and Munna bridges closer to home.
Try mullet strips or live baitfish and before or after each hide tide for best fishing.
There is just a shower or two forecast for most of this week but looks like its fining up for another fabulous weekend’s fishing on the Noosa River.
