Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

It’s not always about the biggest fish as how can you beat Stephanie’s smile for catching this healthy whiting specimen. She was up from Warwick with her family and toured on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure boat.
The fishing continues to be excellent this week with lots of smaller varieties being caught throughout the river and returned but some nice prize fish among them.
For some of those larger species, the river mouth has flathead, queenfish, trevally and some tailor on the prowl whilst the Frying Pan has flathead, whiting and some bream running about. The sand bags at the dog beach and Woods Point is also worth a try and some prize mangrove jacks are on offer into the night.
Woods Bay have some good trevally chasing prawns and live bait as well as flathead and whiting searching on the bottom. The back of Noosa Sound have jacks active at night in the deeper holes and Weyba Creek is always good for flathead, whiting on the sand flats and the odd estuary cod.
The Noosaville reaches have plenty of whiting up to 40cm on the sand banks, flathead and bream scattered throughout. Further up river opposite Makepeace Is. flathead, whiting, bream and the odd threadfin salmon are in numbers and drifting seems to give best results. The run in tide is producing more action and at the mouth of Lake Cooroibah is another active spot will several varieties on offer.
It’s worth taking a few crab pots if your going up river and between the lakes some good mud crabs are on offer as well as Weyba Creek is worth a go.
Unfortunately we may have a traditional wet Easter with some possible storms forecasted however there will be plenty of nice warm weather in between.

Until next week good luck from the boys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.Stephanie Warick
