NOOSA RIVER WEEKLY FISHING REPORT

Young Lauren from Brisbane ventured out on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure tour as was stoked to land this nice 38cm tailor. She caught it on a live herring near the river mouth.

The fishing has been good over the Easter break and with the pre-deluge of rain the tannon leached from the tea trees have darkened the water considerably.
However at the river mouth on each side of the high tide the water is clearer and producing some good qu7ality flathead, trevally, bream and a few chopper tailor and queenfish. Whiting are in the shallows, with bream and flathead in the deeper water in numbers at the Frying Pan, dog beach and the Woods Bays. Woods Point and bays also have golden trevally on the prowl.
Best baits for whiting are live worms or yabbies and for bream and flathead try mullet strips or live baitfish and lures for the larger varieties at the river mouth.
From Munna beach through the Noosaville reaches to the Noosa Marina there are whiting being caught to 35cm on the sand flats, bream and flathead on the drift.
As you venture further up river you will encounter plenty of catfish that have moved down with the fresh water from the rains but there are still some good catches of sooty grunter, whiting and flathead among them.
If you are heading out at night there are still plenty of mangrove jacks at the river mouth, around snags in deeper holes and the mangroves up to 55cm.
Lots of muddies have been washed out too so take a couple crab pots to set.
The weeks weather is looking fabulous with mostly sunny days and just the odd shower about towards the weekend later in the day.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.Lauren Brisbane Tailor 38cm-1200
