These two buck muddies were caught aboard the Noosa Fishing and Crab adventures at the entrance to the first lake earlier this week!

There have been a few reports of trevally and jewfish at the river mouth just after high tide preferably at dusk or dawn. Pilchards and mullet strips will give the best results when fishing at the river mouth. As usual, the river has seen lots of bream around structures such as the Boathouse and the Sound Bridge, with reports up to 40cm. The most common bait for bream is prawns and sand worms. There has still been many reports of cracker size flathead caught this week anywhere between Tewantin and Makepeace Island. When targeting flathead the most common form of fishing is lures such as soft plastics and hard body divers. There has been some nice size mud crabs caught in the river lately. Makepeace Island and just after the second lake have been reported to be the best spots to drop a pot. This week the weather is due to be fine with light easing winds, it’s a perfect time to get off the couch and wet a line.

Fishing has been great in the Noosa river with the water clearing up and a range of species appearing again. During the past week smaller whiting have been about in the normal shallow flats, mainly up and around the frying pan with live worms and yabbies being the preferred baits.  Tailor have been around at first light with hard body poppers and surface lures producing the best results.Bream have been around structures such as the Noosa Sound bridge ranging up to 40cm with prawns and hardy heads being the best baits.  Crabbing in the river has been alright with a range of sand crabs caught down the top end of the river and mud crabs caught surrounding the first lake.  The weather is tipped to be great over the weekend, theirs no better time to get out on the water and wet a line!

Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

The fishing Noosa River this week has been good with several positive reports both in the fishing and crabbing department. There a lots of bream in the river mainly around deeper holes and structures such as the Sheraton bridge and the river mouth. Although bream are known to eat just about anything, prawns and mullet strips have been producing the best results this week. The river mouth is a ripper of a fishing spot at the moment with several reports of good size tailor and trevally surrounding the rock wall about two hours either side of the high tide. When heading up the river more, the stretch from Tewantin to the first lake has seen some great size flathead using soft plastics and prawns. When fishing for flathead, it’s best to cast just off a sandflat. The crabbing has been great in the river with several legal buck mud crabs caught aboard the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures over the past week. The weather is forecasted to be mostly clear with light winds. Now is a great time to get outside and wet a line.

Until next week good luck from the boys at O Boats.
