School Holidays are here and Whiting on the Bite!
There has been some good size Bream in the Noosa River, mainly around deeper holes and structures. The best bait, when targeting bream is prawns and chicken meat. Whiting have been around the sand flats closer to the frying pan and Noosa River mouth. When fishing for whiting live baits such as worms and yabbies are the best baits. Flathead have been around down the bottom end of the river between the first ski run and the mouth of Lake Cooirobah. Soft plastics are generally the best form of fishing although mullet strips will also do the trick. As always the best time to get out and have a fish is the early hours of the morning and the late hours of the afternoon. There has been some great reports when fishing in Woods bay and the Noosa sound area late at night. When fishing in the Noosa river the best tide is the run out. The weather this week is tipped to be sunny with some moderate winds. It’s a great time to get out and drop a line down an estuary.

The river has seen some great fish over the past week, up and around the rivermouth there has been reports of good size tailor and trevally. The best baits for trevally is pilchard fillets and mullet strips. Also around the rivermouth, there has been reports of some great Jewish caught after sunset on live herring. Woods bay at the early hours of the morning is one of the best fishing spots in the river. There has also been some ripper whiting caught up at Lake Cooriobah area on live baits such as worms and yabbies. Bream are still around in numbers, mostly found around deeper holes and structures. The best baits for bream include prawns and mullet strips.There has also been some good flathead caught up the river between the Tewantin Marina and Makepeace island, mainly around sand flats. The most rewarding way to target flathead is using soft plastics and lures. There has been great reports of flathead and bream at munna point using prawns. The next week is forecasted to be sunny with light winds. It is a fantastic time to drop a line in the Noosa River.

There has been some reports of mangrove jack in Woods bay and Noosa Sound around the deeper holes using live bait fish and mullet strips.The best time to target jack is in the early hours of the morning or the late hours of the afternoon. Bream as usual are about around deeper holes and structures. The best baits when targeting bream include mullet strips and prawns. Flathead have been caught around the frying pan and Noosa rivermouth mainly on soft plastics and whitebait. Trevally have been around Tewantin on hard body lures and poppers in the early hours of the morning. There are some very good size whiting about near the boathouse on yabbies and live worms. The mouth of Lake Cooriobah has seen some good bream, whiting and trevally using mullet strips or pilchard fillets With the light showers over the weekend, the mud crabs will be about up near Lake Cooriobah. There is the odd chance of a shower or two along the river although mostly clear.

There has been some good size Bream in the Noosa River, mainly around deeper holes and structures. The best bait, when targeting bream is either prawns or yabbies. At the early hours of the morning there has been some good size tailor near the frying pan and the river mouth. Poppers on the flat water have proven to bring good results at this time of the morning. Queenfish have been about in the late hours of the afternoon throughout Woods Bay. When heading up river, the ski run has been a popular spot to drop a line with reports of whiting, flathead and bream at reasonable sizes. When fishing in the ski run the best baits include prawns, mullet strips and pilchard fillets. Crabbing hasn’t been to bad in the river with several reports of some good size sand crabs being caught around the rivermouth. Fish frames and whole mullet are the best baits to use in pots at the moment. The weather is great along the river with the sun shinning and the wind at a reasonable pace. This week is a great time to get out on the water and drop a line.

Flathead have been caught near the rivermouth around the drop offs and sand falts. The best bait for flathead is pilchards and live bait fish although the soft plastics also tend to bring in the flatty. Bream are known to eat just about anything although prawns and worms tend to be the preferred baits. The best place to drop a line for bream is the Sound bridge.There has been reports of good size whiting in Woods Bay and the frying pan. Live baits such as worms and yabbies are always the best way to target whiting.Early in the morning on the high tide around the Noosa sound there has been reports of some nice trevally being caught using lures. There has been an influx of crabs in the Noosa river although most are jennys. When targeting crabs, the best spot to drop a pot or two is around lake Cooroiobah and Makepeace island using mullet or fish frames. The weather is tipped to be much the same as the weekend with light winds and possible chance of some showers.

Silver trevally are amonst the river near Woods bay and Munna point. The best time to target trevally is late at night or early in the morning using either pilchards or mullet strips. Moving up the river there has still been several reports of great flathead around the ferry crossing and makepeace island. Although bait tends to bring in the fish, soft plastics have been had the best reports when targeting flathead. Lake Cooriobah has also had reports of great golden trevally, silver trevally, flathead and bream. This week has a few forecasted showers although mostly sunny. It’s a great time to escape the wind and drop a line.

Both silver and golden trevally are amongst the river mainly from the rivermouth to the Sheraton Bridge at both the early hours of the morning and the late hours of the afternoon. The best baits for trevally include mullet strips and pilchard fillets.Whiting have been showing up more in the river around the frying pan and Lake Cooriobah with live baits such as worms and yabbies being the preferred baits. Bream as always are popular in the river, mainly around deeper holes and structures. The best baits for bream include prawns and yabbies. Flathead have also been around up the river between the cable ferry crossing and the first lake. There has been several reports of nice fish being caught in Lake Cooriobah, right at the mouth of the lake is a great spot to drop a line. The crabbing has been pretty good lately with several reports of legal male mud crabs being caught. The weather is tipped to be sunny with light winds for most of this week and weekend.

With the passing of the full moon the tides are high and the fish are about. There has been lots of decent size trevally in the river caught anywhere from Munna Point all the way down to Tewantin Marina. Flathead have been amongst the river around the sand flats near the river mouth and the frying pan. The best bait for Flathead is prawns and soft plastics. Tailor have also been around the river mouth and woods bay. The best way to target tailor is with a popper at the early hours of the morning and the late afternoon. Whiting have been amongst the river near munna point and the Sound Bridge. When heading up the river there a couple of good spots to catch bream, whiting and Flathead including the ferry crossing and Lake Cooriobah.The best baits for whiting are live baits such as worms and yabbies. The weather is forecasted to be sunny with little chance of rain. Its nice and cool, there is no better time to get out on the Noosa river and wet a line.
