Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

Sam from the Gold coast caught this nice 50cm flathead while onboard the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures tour.

This week has seen some great mixed bags coming from the rivermouth with flathead, whiting and bream to 34cm from Woods bays to the frying pan. The runout tide has been the best as the run in tide makes the water too clear. The best bream baits have been prawns pillys and mullet fillets while the flathead have taken prawns and herring. There are still a few sandcrabs through the lower reaches as most people have been catching them on there lines and using a landing net to scoop them before they let go when they see the boat. The Tewantin reaches have produced good size flathead on floating pilchards. There has been good size trevally up at the mouth of lake Cooroibah along with grunter bream and bream.

Until next week good luck from the boys at O Boats.

Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

Felicity from Brisbane caught this nice 48cm flathead while onboard the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures tour.

This week has seen a lot more quality bream  in the lower reaches with catches  averaging  the 35cm mark. Woods Bays are producing good bream and flathead on mullet strips and pilchards. The rivermouth has also produced good size chopper tailor and trevally on hard body lures and silver slugs. Tewantin has produced flathead , bream and the odd jewfish on live beach worms. Quality flathead along with grunter bream and bream were caught around the ferry crossing  up to the first lake. There are still a few sand crabs through the Noosaville stretches.

Until next week good luck from the boys at O Boats.

Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

Wade was down from Curra for the day with his family and friends and was stoked to land this nice flatty whislt out on an O Boat Hire pontoon.

There were some good reports of catches mainly in the lower reaches this week. Inside the river mouth there were plenty of bream, tailor, trevally and the odd flathead, whilst the Frying Pan produced tailor and bream.

In the deeper parts of the Woods Bay and point, trevally, tailor and bream were active and at night there are a few mangrove jack to be sought at the back of Noosa Sound and Weyba Creek. The Noosaville reaches is producing nice whiting and bream up to 40 cm and more and around Noosa Marina at Tewanting was good for the odd jack, bream and chopper tailor.

Between the ski run and the ferry crossing, flathead, whiting and again bream were active and a few trevally, grunter bream and flathead on the bite just before Lake Cooroibah. A few school jew about too but the bigger ones are quite timid. Both tides are fishing kind and for baits try mullet strips and pillies for bream, prawns and live bait if available for all round varieties. Plastics and lures are also working well at the top of each tide.

It looks a stunning week ahead with blue skis and little wind, so take advantage of the great weather and get out in the river and wet a line.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.

Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

Patrick had a nice feast of  Noosa River mud crabs when holidaying up from Victoria on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure.

Fishing was hard going generally last week but the higher night tides and full moon the activity has increased. Lots of  bream have come in and are being caught throughout the lower reaches with flathead, tailor and a few trevally near the river mouth, Frying Pan, Woods Bay and early at the back of Noosa Sound.

Mangrove jacks are still about in Noosa Sound, Weyba Creek, around the Noosa Marina at Tewantin at night. Flathead will take most baits but white bait are giving best results for bigger fish and try your luck at Woods Point, off  Munna Beach, before the car Ferry and at the entrance of Lake Cooroibah.

There are a few whiting about on the sand flats opposite Makepeace Island and along the Noosaville reaches with some nice golden trevally being landed there and past the first ski run.

Both tides are fishing well and for baits try mullet strips for bream and flathead, lures, soft plastics and live bait if available. Prawns and live worms are good for your bream, trevally, whiting and flathead also.

Weatherwise, blue skies with a possible shower towards the end of week and weekend but warming to nice days and cool nights with little wind about.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.
