Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

George from Peregian Beach was stoked to land this nice golden trevally caught at the river mouth when on our Noosa Fishing and Crab Tour.

Another good week of fishing with lower reaches faring best for flathead, trevally, tarwhine, bream and whiting. Try river mouth, frying pan and Woods Bay and the back of Noosa Sound and Tewantin Marina at night for the odd mangrove jack. Weyba Creek was good for estuary cod, flathead and bream and whiting on the sand flats through the Noosaville reaches.

Just before the ferry and Lake Cooroibah is also worth a try and both tides are fishing well towards each side of the high tide.

If you can get live bait as in herring, worms or yabbies it’s best otherwise prawns, mullet strips and cured worms are fine.

We expect the further you go up river the more catfish you will come across so keep to the lower reaches, snags and deeper holes.

With the recent deluge of rain we should see further mud crabs washed down so it’s worth dropping a pot while you are fishing.

The Easter forecast is looking magnificent throughout and remember safe boating and consider others as the waterways will be very busy.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.

Plenty of tarwhine in Noosa River

On a fishing tour last week we had Glen from Bracken Ridge and Sean from Melbourne showing off their catch on their safari and crab adventure. Tarwhine were in numbers inside the river mouth and are part of the bream family. Well done guys and see you next trip.

The Noosa River mouth was active

Last Monday the river mouth was fishing well with a variety of fish caught on our Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure. Caroline from Melbourne got a nice bream and trevally and Aiden from Blackbutt landed a good tarwhine and lots of others on their tour.

Crabbing in Noosa River

Sometimes you get an added bonus when you pull a few pots on our fishing and crab tours as Mitch and Lachlan found out with this nice estuary cod they pulled in.

Mitch and Lachlan from Melbourne

The lads had a great day out fishing and crabbing on Noosa River and landed this nice flathead to top it all off. Well done lads and hope you had a great holiday and stories to tell.

Get more than you bargained for out Fishing on Noosa River

Dylan from Cronulla got a huge surprise when he struggled with this monster shovel nose shark. He did so well, well done.
Don’t worry people’s shovel nose sharks are harmless and we are lucky in Noosa River to have had no recorded shark attacks in Noosa other than a man with a bite to his leg some 40 years ago.

Noosa River Fishing Weekly Report

Jacob from Cronulla had a grin from ear to ear when he landed this nice flathead on a recent Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure tour.

The fishing has been excellent in the lower reaches but from the river ferry upwards and the recent fresh water deluge see the catfish in numbers.  The river mouth and frying pan are good for whiting, bream, flathead and the odd golden trevally and tailor.

From Munna Point through the Noosaville reaches on the sand banks in 3 to 5 feet of water there are lots of whiting, bream and good sized flathead. (up to 80cm being caught) Try drifting to increase your chances as well.

As for trophy fish like mangrove jacks try in the evening around the Sheraton bridge, the deep holes at the back of Noosa Sound and Noosa Marina. You may pick up the odd estuary cod too.

With the dirty water both tides are fishing well and try live bait or worms if you can get some otherwise prawns and lures or plastics for larger fish.

Don’t forget to drop a crab pot in as lots have been flushed down the river.

With just a shower or two forecast for next Sunday, it looks a perfect week to start the school holidays and get out on the water.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.

Crabs of plenty in Noosa River

With the recent rains last week there have been quite a lot of mud crabs flushed down the river. Crab a pot and try your luck and O Boat Hire have a special deal for you.
Just don’t forget it’s illegal to take female crabs or any male under 15cm across the body. The fines are over $1,000 and also the same if caught lifting anyone else’s pot.
The other alternative is to join a Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure where you are guarenteed of a yummy crab tasting on board while you fish.Noosariverfishingcrabbingnoosariveradventuretours www.noosariverandfishingadventures.com.au15
