Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

Tara and mum (Cat) were up on holidays and had a great experience on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventure boat Sunday.
They caught this prize 65cm flathead, had a yummy crab tasting cooked up and some awesome scenery.

The big tides has made fishing very productive this week with most parts of the Noosa River showing some good action.
The river mouth had flathead, bream, whiting, trevally on the bite and after dark jacks and school jew were on the prowl as well, as at Woods Point. The Frying Pan has bream, whiting and flathead and best results are using live beach worms or yabbies. The Woods Bays through to Munna Point have bream, flathead and trevally active as well as the deeper holes at the back of Noosa Sound.
Weyba Creek is always worth a try for flathead, whiting and the odd estuary cod with a few jacks at night. Sand crabs are also still on the march so take a crab pot.
The Noosaville reaches to Tewantin have whiting on the sand banks and good size bream and flathead in the deeper parts. From the ski run to the car ferry and at the mouth of Lake Cooroibah fishing is good also with several varieties up for grabs including, grunter bream, whiting, flathead, jacks and the odd threadfin salmon.
Between the top two lakes in the deeper holes after dark are worthwhile for the extended adventurists. Best tides are either side of the top of each tide.
There looks likely to be a couple showers about at the end of this week but fining up for another fabulous weekend to his the safe waters of our beautiful river.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.Tara and mum Cat 65cm on live herring

Some nice whiting on the bite in Noosa River.

Amali and Lucas landed a few nice whiting up to 38cm. Well done kids.IMG_0006

Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

Luke from Brisbane caught a shovel nosed ray almost as big as himself on the weekend while Ethan also from Brisbane is holding a big tasty male mud crab ready for the pot. Both lads enjoyed a fabulous day on the Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures charter.
The good fishing continues with lots of quality whiting, flathead, bream and other larger varieties about through several parts of Noosa River. The river mouth is always worth a shot with flathead, bream, whiting and trevally on the bite and jacks after sunset. The Frying Pan and Woods Bays were producing the same and the Dog Beach has some quality whiting up to 40cm on the prowl.
At the back of Noosa Sound and Weyba Creek there are whiting, flathead and moses perch with some mangrove jacks on the move after dark. The Noosaville reaches have whiting on the sand banks and flathead on the drift, and best baits are live beach worms, yabbies or mullet strips. There are a few queenfish also up for grabs in and around the lower reaches where lures are worth a go.
Up river before the car ferry and at the mouth of the first lake there are grunter bream, flathead and whiting in good numbers and jacks in the deeper holes or in around the mangroves. It’s worth dropping in a few crab pots for muddies up river and the Weyba Creek still has sand crabs on the march.
The best times are early morning and on the run out tides and on the making tide before the high.
The weather looks like being great again with only an odd shower predicted for the weekend and it’s always safe and calm boating conditions on the Noosa River.

Until next week good luck from the guys at Noosa Fishing and Crab Adventures.Ethan Brisbane Mud crab Luke Brisbane shovelnose

Noosa River Weekly Fishing Report

fish report 2

37cm Bream caught on a handline using prawns, goes to show its not always the person with the best gear that lands the best fish.

This week has seen some fantastic catches throughout the river with the best a flathead to 1 metre caught and released along the Noosaville foreshore. The river mouth has seen a lot of flathead, bream and trevally. The woods bay has been on fire for the mangrove jack with one lucky angler boating three in one morning session. You have to be up early though as he was out at 4am and by 6am they went off the bite. Live herring and flesh baits were most successful. The Noosaville stretches to Tewantin have produced good catches of bream, flathead and grunter bream to 35cm on prawns and live worms. The fist lake is starting to clear up and trevally and flathead have been caught at the start of the lake. There are still a few sand crabs in the lower reaches of Noosaville and a few mud crabs still on the move throughout the river.

Until next week good luck from the boys at O Boats.
